Natalie defends a movie she loves even though she knows it's terrible.
Chris has many times tried to convince me that this movie is pure terrible and there is no way to love it, but I disagree! Yes, it is a little far fetched and most people do not enjoy it, but I love this movie! Its underlying scientific premise is fascinating to me! So lets dive in and talk about Waterworld…
Why I Love It:
5. I love the idea of the cities still being down below the ocean and we are just incapable of getting there and seeing that.
4. The idea that Mount Everest is the only place on earth that is still "dry land" and all that anyone wants to do is find it, is very compelling.
3. The bad guys have a giant oil rig that is like a mini city they row around in. Like who comes up with this stuff? But I love it!
2. The little girl Enola is hilarious and plays off of Kevin Costner's somber attitude very nicely!
1. The premise of a post apocalyptic world that isn't a desert setting (Road Warrior, The Road, The Book of Eli) is interesting and opens up a lot of new, interesting avenues to be explored. And the concept that everyone is stuck on a boat, if you can find one, is very unique.

Why It's Terrible:
5. Although the premise is interesting, if the ice caps melted the water levels would only rise 13 feet; not nearly enough to make any part of this movie believable.
4. There is absolutely no chemistry between any of the stars and it makes it hard to believe they are building the "strong" relationships they should be.
3. The writing is flat. There is not really any meaningful dialogue in. The whole movie and it causes some seriously awkward scenes!
2. They spent 200 million dollars. Watch this movie and you too can wonder how that's even possible.
1. Kevin Costner is not good. Period. This movie was all about him boosting his ego and when you get down to it he isn't talented enough to deserve an ego boost movie. End of story.

In the end this movie was a really cool concept. With different actors and better writers it could have been something truly spectacular, but I guess we'll never know!
