The stupidity of Hollywood will never cease to amaze me. Create a comedy based on the relationships of three young men, name it after an internet meme, target the marketing decidedly towards women, then drop the whole thing on Super Bowl weekend (That Awkward Moment). While $8.74 million is hardly a bomb, it certainly seems like it could've done better just with a simple shift in marketing and release date (note: I'm not advocating for this movie; it looks awful). The other new release, Labor Day, bombed with only $5.2 million. With critics (32% on Rotten Tomatoes) and word-of-mouth alike (B- CinemaScore) warning people away from this one, this is probably its lone week in the Top Ten. In other news, American Hustle came director David O. Russell's highest-grossing movie ever, surpassing Silver Linings Playbook, and RoboCop debuted to strong numbers overseas ahead of its 2/20 domestic release.
