Draft Day
The first trailer for Draft Day is out, and sign me up! Unless a second trailer gives a little more detail, I'll probably skip this one for a Psychic, so I might as well summarize my thoughts here. The NFL obviously had a hand in this given the shots of Radio City Music Hall at the draft, use of the team names and logos, etc. The only question will be, did that hamper the product? As brand-conscious as the NFL is right now, I hope they didn't meddle too much, because the trailer makes it look awesome. Another note: No, no we don't win a lot in Dallas. We haven't in quite some time. That must be one of the comedy's jokes?

Untitled Superman-Batman Movie
Now that Gal Gadot's been cast as Wonder Woman in the next Superman movie, the trainwreck of this movie is starting to take shape. I have nothing against Gadot; it's just that the only role I know her from is the Fast & Furious franchise, and she hardly held the camera captive there. Henry Cavill suddenly looks like the cream of the crop, and nothing against Mr. Cavill, but if you're trying to start a franchise to compete with The Avengers (that sports its myriad of stars, all bankable in the their own right), you have to come out of the gate stronger than Gal Gadot. Was Eliza Dushku's agent on vacation or something?

Out of the Furnace
With the news that the Out of the Furnace producers are being sued for demation, I realized I just feel sorry for this movie at this point. It's like seeing one of those ASPCA commercials with Sarah McLachlan singing a sad song. I just can't take it anymore. Isn't there something I can do for this poor movie? Oh, I could've bought a ticket? Whoops.

47 Ronin
It would appear I aimed a little wide in naming I, Frankenstein in my Top Ten Movies Destined to Fail. Although that movie will still undoubtedly bomb, 47 Ronin is really coming on strong to be a gigantic financial sinkhole for Universal. Realizing what a steaming turd they had on their hands, Universal's held off on releasing it for over a year and took the drastic step of already writing down the film's $175 million budget in previous quarters. That sort of foreknowledge of how bad a movie will perform along with their admission, is almost unheard of in Hollywood.
