The Top Ten From The Box Office This Weekend

Not even Leo and Scorsese could challenge the top 2, although an 'R' rating and a 3 hour running time probably didn't help. It will be interesting to see how the post-holiday weekend shakes out as that usually gives you a better look at which movies will have staying power (spoiler alert: not 47 Ronin!). Even theaters are underestimating Frozen at this point, as its theater count actually dropped by several hundred, essentially handing the weekend to The Hobbit. The moviegoing public continued to disappoint given obvious clunkers like 47 Ronin and Grudge Match a B+ CinemaScore, while giving The Wolf of Wall Street a C. I guess its subject matter was just a bit too heavy for Christmas week, but the awards nominations will hopefully bolster it and give it some staying power.
